Job Service ND recently launched a new online employment search tool called “Job Spidering.” This tool was created as a partnership between Job Service ND and the ND Department of Commerce. ITCND supported Job Service’s appropriation bill during the 2007 legislative session, which included $300,000 in funding for the Job Spidering initiative.
What is Job Spidering? It is an online employment search tool that provides employers and job seekers fast and easy access to a larger database of jobs all on one website.
How does it work? Job Spidering pulls listings from the websites of ND companies and corporations with 50 or more employees. These employers do not need to be registered with Job Service in order to have their postings spidered. Job Spidering also pulls listings from national job boards, national recruiters, corporate and military sites, local job boards, state and local government sites, local hospitals and newspapers. It “grabs” information such as job title and description, occupation, geographic location, and salary to post on Job Service’s website, www.jobsnd.com. More than 90 percent of the sites are spidered every 24 hours.
What are the benefits to IT employers? Job Spidering provides job seekers with a centralized posting of ND job opportunities. This allows employer listings to be viewed by a larger talent pool. It also provides valuable workforce intelligence to assist employers, including trends concerning job openings, salaries, benefits and other workforce data.
Visit www.jobsnd.com or contact any Job Service office across the state for more information. |
The officers are: President Gary Inman of Echelon Corp., Fargo; Vice President Mike Eggl of Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Bismarck; and Treasurer Jeff Swank of the North Dakota Information Technology Department, Bismarck.
These individuals were elected to serve a one-year term by fellow board members.
